Give804 is Richmond’s annual literacy movement and citywide moment to invest in students.
Third-grade reading is one of the most significant predictors of life outcomes. Give804 brings Richmond together around a bold vision: 100% of RPS students reading on grade level by the end of third grade and experiencing the joy and power of reading every day.
From August 4–31, families, neighbors, businesses, alumni, and community partners can help build a city of strong, joyful readers by investing in literacy, volunteering as Reading Buddies, donating books, and spreading the word.

Give Books
Donate new or gently loved, student-friendly books for Richmond students in grades K–12.
Become a Reading Buddy
You’ll be taken to the official RPS volunteer application. Enter your information, choose your school preferences, and select “Reading Buddy” when prompted. There is no fee to apply.
Spread the Word
Use our Community Sharing Kit to post about Give804, invite others to participate, and help build momentum across Richmond.
